In December 2007, founders Joshua Kushner, Tanuj Parikh, and Nimay Mehta has an idea they knew would revolutionize the way students financed their college education. The concept was simple: pool together alumni to make small micro loans to students to help them pay tuition.

They saw an industry dominated by profit-drive and impersonal banks that gave students rigid and burdensome loan terms.

Around the same time Katie Radford navigated the confusing, expensive, and predatory financial aid process. She, like thousands of other students, was left saddled with excessive amounts of debt and forced to drop out of college.

Katie Radford is an acutaly person, but she could be any one of the thousands of students nationwide who routinely have to choose between the college of their choice and the college they can afford. UniThrive is for those studens and their families.
